Whiting Society

The Whiting Society is our way of thanking those who have remembered Washburn in their estate plans.

A provision for Washburn University in your estate planning automatically qualifies for membership in the Whiting Society. Each gift helps encourage others to make similar gifts for Washburn.

In 1906, Albe B. and Kate Whitney Whiting established a provision for Washburn through income from Mount Hope Cemetery for 1000 years. Like the Whiting's example, each estate gift helps shape the future of Washburn University.

Annual Societies and Giving Clubs

Annual Societies

Giving Societies provide support for academic units at Washburn. Donors who make gifts of $1,000 or more during the fiscal year (July 1 -June 30) are invited to various activities throughout the year.

The Pythagorean Order recognizes alumni and friends of the College of Arts and Sciences. Members take pride in the knowledge that their support is allowing future generations of Washburn to receive a quality liberal arts education.

The Angel Investor Society recognizes visionary investors to the School of Business. Giving encourages leadership through vision, innovation and investment in the future of Washburn’s School of Business.

The Benton Society, named after Benton Hall, is the home of the School of Applied Studies. Annual gifts create new opportunities and expand current programs within the five departments.

The Caring Society recognizes donors to the School of Nursing. Generous support from alumni and friends enhances the School's ability to provide exceptional educational opportunities for undergraduates and graduate nursing students.

The Dean’s Circle recognizes donors giving to the Washburn University School of Law. Members are invited to an annual dinner hosted by the Dean and law faculty.

Giving Clubs

The Friends of Mabee Library play a critical role and serve an increasingly important function by providing steady and dependable support. The generosity of our Friends has enabled the Library to enhance areas that complement the University's academic strengths, enlarge computer information services, and guarantee accessibility to all users.

Your membership contribution benefits every student and scholar at Washburn University--today and forever. Membership includes the opportunity to attend the Friends' annual meeting and events and to receive Among Friends, the Friends' newsletter. To become a member, give to the Mabee Library.

Membership in the Friends of the Mulvane Art Museum helps provide exhibits and programs for the public. Your membership entitles you to a number of benefits, including invitations to exhibition previews and special events, reduced rates on museum classes, priority reservations on museum trips, and a 10% discount in the museum gift shop. To become a member, give to the Mulvane Art Museum.

The Ichabod Athletic Fund was established by Washburn University to recognize those who provide scholarship assistance and program support of student athletes. The mission of the Ichabod Athletic Fund is to provide scholarship assistance to young men and women who are student-athletes at Washburn and provide quality equipment and facilities in which to compete. Opportunities for alumni, friends, parents and boosters to become involved with the Ichabod Athletic Fund are available through the kickoff party, pregame parties, coaches luncheons, the "Big Game" party, the annual golf tournament and auction, and other special events. Invest in the future of Washburn Athletics through the Ichabod Athletic Fund.

By becoming a KTWU Member you can be one of many that help to provide over 50% of the funds needed for the station to continue to provide quality services to the area community. KTWU members receive exclusive benefits throughout their 12-month membership period including program guides, newsletters, and a 2-for-1 savings card. Make a gift to KTWU.
