Hall hopes scholarships provide opportunities

Eltrude Elliott Hall appreciates the opportunities she had as a Washburn University student and hopes the two scholarships she supports will help other students realize those same opportunities.
She recently established the Merton Elliott Law Scholarship in honor of her older brother and continues to support to the Dorsey Elliott Athletic Scholarship created in 1990 in honor of another older brother.
“A college education can be a life-changing experience and these scholarships are a way to offer students the opportunity to experience college,” Eltrude said.
Hall attended Washburn University for two years (’37 and ’38) before transferring to the University of Kansas and earning a bachelor of music education degree. While at Washburn she received a scholarship and was an accompanist in the music department.
“I have many fond memories from my years as a piano accompanist in the Washburn Department of Music,” she said. “My experience at Washburn enhanced my musical abilities and helped give me the tools to be able to play for my church throughout my life.”
“It is my hope these scholarships will help many young people be able to take advantage of the opportunities provided by Washburn University,” she added.
