The Leadership Institute aims to develop students into ethical, caring and diverse leaders prepared to immediately assume leadership roles in today's changing society by cultivating the study of leadership and facilitating transformational learning experiences designed to challenge, motivate and inspire future leaders.
The Leadership Institute provides students with several opportunities to lead, and many students also venture beyond the Institute to lead other organizations
across campus. The Institute partners with these organizations to establish and support as many opportunities for leadership students as possible. Students often use these opportunities to fulfill Washburn Transformational Experience requirements and complete other curriculum projects.
In addition to partnering with organizations on Washburn’s campus, The Leadership Institute partners with organizations and projects throughout the community to create opportunities for students to affect change. Students often find their work in the community satisfies requirements for the Washburn Transformational Experience and the Leadership Studies Certificate. These partnerships also help students develop mentoring relationships with community leaders and create networking opportunities beneficial to their careers.
Support of the Leadership Institute will help make this type of programming possible in the future and also help the institute continue to expand and grow its efforts.
